3 tips for redirecting your .CA domain name [video]

Redirecting a domain name is a great way to put your domain name to work if you're not quite ready to build a website.

There are currently over 3 million .CA domain names currently registered – but this doesn’t necessarily mean that people have built 3 million websites. Sometimes, people register a domain but don’t actually get around to building a website on the domain. Here’s a couple of scenarios that we guess could explain why this happens (maybe you can relate):

  • You woke up in the middle of the night with an amazing idea and promptly register the domain, but keep putting off your appointment with the bank to get the loan you desperately need to make this dream a reality.
  • You registered your personal domain name with every intention of building an interactive online resume, but your need for a professional digital presence was unfortunately timed to coincide with the release of the new season of Stranger Things on Netflix.

If you’ve registered a great domain but aren’t ready to build a website just yet – don’t just let it sit there! You can put it to work by redirecting (also known as “forwarding”) to an existing website, blog, social media profile, online store – anything on the web, really.

Our video explains more about redirecting your domain.

As you’ve learned, redirecting a domain with your Registrar is really easy to do (as in, you just paste the link and click a button) and often comes at no additional cost. And once you have overcome your laziness are ready to tackle building that website, you can make the changes with your Registrar.
